"A Yearning for Sesto Meucci Petra's - I tried on a pair of Sesto Meucci Petras at the local Nordstrom's recently during a "BIG" shoe sale. The very minute, nee SECOND, that I tried on these Petras I just KNEW they were made for my sensitive and perpetually sore feet. At the time, I was looking for a dressy shoe with a heel (something new for this time of my life).I tried on and tried on shoe after shoe and when the sales woman put the Petra on my feet, I felt a little slice of heaven. They enveloped my feet in such comfort I just could NOT believe it.I stopped trying on shoes that very second, and told the sales woman, "I'll take them." Then, for some reason, I asked her, "How much are they?" To which she replied, "$137.00." Well I nearly lost my teeth, and was SOOOOOO disappointed because I knew I could not afford to pay that kind of money for one pair of shoes. Heck, all four of us could buy tennis shoes for that price.Well, I had the sales woman write the name of the manufacturer and the shoe and carried it around in my purse for weeks. I literally YEARNED for these shoes. Then, I tore up that little scrap of paper thinking that I would stop thinking about those shoes. And, don't you know, I actually looked up Sesto Meucci ON-LINE and FOUND THEM!!! Oh, dear, I was really in trouble then.Shortly thereafter, I confessed my Sesto Meucci PETRA situation with my husband, who said, "You'd better NOT pay $137.00 for one pair of shoes. I'll kick your ass!" (A joke in our family.)Finally, I wrote a letter to Sesto Meucci asking how and why one pair of shoes could actually cost that much, and was told that the shoes were hand-made, to which I have to ask (in final desperation), "DO THEY EVER GO ON SALE?)Obviously, I'm WAAAAAAAY out of my league here. I will sing the praises of Sesto Meucci AND PETRA forever. What a magnificent and totally comfortable pair of shoes -- even better than a foot massage. Totally wonderful,folks. I congratulate you on this marvelous product -- you really out-did yourselves. And, they look so simple.Unless we get an unexpected windfall, I will have to content myself with my $27.00 Newport News on-sale black heels with sewn-on beads. Certainly nowhere near your Petras, but I have to be totaly realistic about this.My husband hasn't had any work to speak of since 9/11. Nobody wants to hire me because I'm over 50 (a little age discrimination going on here). We've just about exhausted the business's money, our savings and a recently settled law suit, so I BETTER not pay $137.00 for a pair of shoes. But, I can dream, can't I?
