"Definitely NOT canvas.As the last reviewer pointed out, these are leather shoes. I even went so far as to visit the Penguin website before purchasing them, in the hope that they were a convincing, suede-like, man-made material, but the Zappos description is pulled directly from the Penguin website. OK, maybe I'm just an idiot, but if the website specifically says "canvas upper", I'm going to assume I'm not getting any leather. Heck, they were under $30! Oh well, that's too bad. They were awfully cool looking shoes. In fact, they should make them in a convincing, suede-like, mad-made material! I'd love to have a pair, but I don't do leather shoes (tree-hugging, vegan weirdo)."
